Speaking of Eddie's Calzones, I just heard a rumor that they are giving away free calzones today. This is a better than average opportunity to try out their product. Post below with any reviews you might have.

Eddie's Calzones
There looks to be a new restaurant called Eddie's Calzones moving in to 265 E. Clayton St. That spot has been empty for over a year since Al's #1 Beef shut down. They've already put up a sign (see the image below), but paper is still covering the windows. It is probably a franchise location of Eddie's Calzones in Columbia, South Carolina (or at least the script on the sign matches the website design). Here is a link to their site: http://www.eddiescalzones.com/

There's an event happening at the Special Collections building on the UGA campus. I hear that home.made will be catering the event. If you've never eaten their food, you're missing out. The swanee bites are excellent. Go score some freebies! Here's the info:

"The Place" Menus
A new restaurant called "The Place" (a name which could ultimately be confusing when trying to find it on the internet) has opened in the old Five Star Day Cafe space on 229 East Broad Street. I haven't eaten there yet, but the place looks nice and the meat and three option on the lunch menu looks similar to something you would have found at Five Star. I have included scans of the lunch and dinner menus below. Click on the image for a larger view.

Free Pizza Samples at Brixx
Brixx (135 W. Washington St.) in downtown Athens is giving out samples of their gluten free pizza and appetizers on Tuesday, January 6th from 6-7pm. That is tonight. The image below has a date error on it. I personally think glutens are delicious, but if you are allergic them or want them out of your life this is manna from heaven. Plus, free pizza is free pizza.

Korean BBQ
I just heard an unconfirmed rumor that the old Farm 255/Echo space on Washington Street is going to be a Korean barbecue restaurant. Here's hoping the rumors are true.
Butt Hutt
The Butt Hutt over on Macon Highway has recently reacquired its liquor license. If that's what has been keeping you from enjoying their barbecue, give them a visit and drink up.
Free Fruit and Nuts Alert
There are free fruit and nut samples being given out at the Main Library snack bar. A healthy free food option for a change.

Restaurant openings
Two new restaurants have opened or will open in Athens this week.
Little Bull is now open at 259 E. Broad Street in the old Grilled Teriyaki space. The new Puerto Rican restaurant's opening sneaked (or snuck) up on us. They have a limited menu for now with sandwiches and appetizers. They also have a daily special, which was yellow rice with chicken, pinto beans, and a side of plantains yesterday. Looks promising. Updates to come.

Looks like a great burger addition to Athens.
